Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine

At Harmony Dao TCM Clinic, we provide traditional Chinese herbal medicine as a safe and natural way to restore balance and vitality. Each formula is carefully tailored to the individual, drawing on centuries of knowledge to address not only symptoms but also the underlying patterns of imbalance. By supporting the body’s natural functions, herbal medicine can assist with a wide range of health concerns and promote long-term well-being.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is another cornerstone of our practice. By gently stimulating precise points along the body’s meridians, acupuncture helps to regulate energy flow, ease pain, release tension, and support emotional balance. Many people find it deeply relaxing, making it an effective therapy not only for specific conditions but also for stress management and overall health maintenance.

Cupping therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient healing practice in which special cups are placed on the skin to create gentle suction. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is used to stimulate the flow of Qi and blood along the meridians, helping to clear stagnation and expel wind, cold or dampness from the body. This process enhances circulation, eases muscle tension, and reduces inflammation, supporting the body’s natural healing response. Cupping may leave temporary circular marks on the skin, which usually fade within a few days. With its long history of relieving pain and promoting wellness, cupping is best experienced under the care of a qualified practitioner.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha (scraping therapy) is a traditional healing technique in which a smooth-edged tool is gently scraped across the skin to stimulate circulation and release tension. In TCM, it is used to promote the smooth flow of Qi and blood, helping to clear stagnation, toxins, and excess heat from the body. This therapy can ease muscle stiffness, reduce inflammation, and support recovery from fatigue or chronic discomfort. Mild redness or petechiae may appear after treatment, but these marks are temporary and usually fade within a few days. Gua Sha can be used as a stand-alone therapy or in combination with other TCM modalities, such as acupuncture, cupping, or herbal medicine, to enhance overall treatment outcomes. At Harmony Dao TCM Clinic, we offer facial Gua Sha to promote a youthful, radiant appearance, as well as body Gua Sha to relieve muscle tension and support overall well-being.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves the gentle warming of specific acupuncture points using dried mugwort (moxa). In TCM, this medicinal warmth is believed to stimulate the flow of Qi and blood, strengthen the body’s defences, and dispel cold and dampness. Moxibustion can help relieve pain, improve circulation, boost energy, and support overall health. It is often used alone or alongside other TCM treatments, such as acupuncture, remedial Tuina massage or herbal medicine, to enhance therapeutic effects. When performed by a qualified practitioner, moxibustion is a safe and soothing method to restore balance and promote well-being.
